Classroom-Based Action Research: From Classroom Problems to Evidence-Informed Change

About the Conference

Classrooms are complex environments. Every day, teachers encounter challenges related to student engagement, motivation, assessment, learning differences, inclusion, classroom management, technology and curriculum implementation.

Yet many of these challenges are addressed through experience, intuition or externally prescribed solutions rather than through systematic inquiry into what is actually happening in a particular classroom.

Classroom-based action research offers a different approach.

It enables teachers to identify meaningful problems in their own practice, investigate them systematically, introduce an intervention or change, examine evidence of its effects, reflect on the findings and use that learning to improve practice.

The ITU Virtual Conference 2027 will provide a global platform for teachers, teacher educators, researchers, school leaders and education professionals to share classroom-based action research, practitioner inquiry, methodological innovations and evidence-informed approaches to improving teaching and learning.

The conference will explore how action research can move teachers from being consumers of educational knowledge to producers of contextually relevant knowledge about teaching and learning.

If you are a teacher who has identified a problem, tried something new, collected evidence and reflected on what happened, you may already be doing action research.
