Student Achievement

ITU monitors key indicators of student achievement to evaluate institutional effectiveness and student success. The University will publish these measures annually once applicable, following IPEDS-aligned definitions for transparency and continuous improvement.

About the Program

ITU offers a single graduate program, the Master's in Education (M.Ed.), which is a 12-month, fully online degree program comprising 10 courses (one elective) and totaling 33 credits. The program is structured to ensure that teachers acquire advanced instructional skills, classroom management techniques, and curriculum development expertise, while integrating technology into their teaching practice.

Retention Rates

ITU tracks graduate cohort retention on an annual basis to evaluate student persistence within the Master's in Education (M.Ed.) program. Retention measures the proportion of students from each enrollment cohort who remain enrolled or graduate within a defined time period.

Because ITU enrolls students on a rolling basis throughout the year, retention is calculated 12 months after each cohort's initial enrollment date, rather than using a traditional fall-to-fall model. This approach provides a consistent and meaningful measure of student progression within ITU's continuous academic calendar.

ITU monitors student retention using two complementary approaches to provide a comprehensive view of student persistence and institutional stability.

Cohort Retention

Cohort retention measures the percentage of students within each enrollment cohort who remain enrolled 12 months after their initial enrollment date. This cohort-based approach allows the institution to track student progression relative to each cohort's start date and evaluate persistence patterns across successive cohorts.

The table below represents the retention rates for the cohorts that have commenced the program. As cohorts are added and complete their one year, their retention rates will be added and measured.

Formula: Retention (12 months) = (Still Enrolled at 12 months + Graduated within 12 months) ÷ Original cohort size × 100

Cohort 2August 202486%
Cohort 3January 2025100%
Cohort 4April 2025100%

Institutional Retention

Institutional retention measures the percentage of students enrolled at any point during the academic year (July 1 to June 30) who either continue their enrollment into the subsequent academic year or successfully complete their program. This measure is based on unduplicated student headcount and is designed to reflect the institution's rolling admissions structure.

Formula: Retention = Students enrolled in AY who either re-enroll next AY or graduate ÷ Total unduplicated AY students × 100

Graduation Rates

Graduation rates are reported at the 150% and 200% of normal program time thresholds, consistent with IPEDS definitions. For ITU's 12-month M.Ed. program, 150% time equals 18 months and 200% time equals 24 months from the cohort start date.

Methodology: Although ITU is not currently required to report through IPEDS, the University adopts IPEDS-aligned definitions for calculating graduation and retention rates. This ensures consistency with U.S. Department of Education standards and supports comparability of institutional effectiveness metrics across higher education institutions.

Placement Rates

Graduate placement tracking is still being developed; these measures are not applicable at this time. The University will expand its reporting to include placement outcomes as additional cohorts graduate.
